Casey Derflinger
Illustrious Potentate
Casey Derflinger was born inWest Plains,Missouri, and grew up at Hermosa,SD. The schools he attended include Hermosa Grade School, Rapid City Central High School, andSouth Dakota StateUniversity. After graduating from SDSU in 1982, he started his banking career in eastern South Dakota. In 1990, he moved back to the Black Hills and has worked for First Interstate Bank since that time, most recently in Hot Springs. Casey and his wife, Thia, have 2 sons, 1 daughter, and 1 grandson.
Brother Derflinger was raised a Master Mason in 1993 in Tin City Lodge #112 in Hill City. He is also a member of Harmony Lodge #110 inHot Springs, where he served as Worshipful Master from 1998-2000. He is also active at the Grand Lodge level, currently serving on the Board of Trustees and on the Organizational Committee, serving as Grand Pursuivant in 2003-2004, and is currently the Junior Grand Steward.
Brother Derflinger is also involved in the Scottish Rite, currently serving as director of the 5th degree, and he is active in other degrees. He was honored as a Knight Commander of the Court of Honor in 2005 and as an Inspector General, Honorary in 2009.
Noble Derflinger walked the hot sands of the Naja Shrine in the fall of 1993. He is past president of the Fall River Shrine Patrol and remains very active in the unit. He is also past president of the Southern Hills Shrine Club and remains very active in the club as well. He was appointed Outer Guard in 2003 by Potentate Floyd Rummel, III and is proud to serve Naja Shriners as Potentate for 2012.
Noble Derflinger is also active in numerous community organizations in theHot Springs area, and he serves on several regional and state-wide economic development boards, too.
