Patient Evaluation & Outreach Clinic
Each fall, staff from Shriners Hospital for Children – Twin Cities come to Rapid City to hold an Evaluation Clinic for children up to the age of 18 that are having problems with their bones, muscles, joints and/or other orthopaedic conditions. Specialists that are leaders in their field and have advanced training and experience in caring for children see new patients at the clinic to determine if Shriners Hospital for Children can provide care for their child. Appointments are also available for second opinions at these clinics.
While here, the medical staff also schedules appointments at our Outreach Clinic for children who are currently seen at Shriners Hospitals for Children. This usually saves them a trip to the Twin Cities.
Pediatric Burn Clinic
During the first quarter of 2011, and about every other year, the Hospital Division hosts a pediatric burn clinic to provide local medical professionals with additional burn treatment training. Professional staff from the burn unit at the Shriners Hospitals for Children – Cincinnati conducts this course with participants receiving continuing education credits for attending.

Fire Prevention Week
In October the Hospital Division works with the Rapid City Fire Department and local schools to help educate area children about fire prevention and safety. In 2010, we handed out more than 3,300 Burn Awareness coloring books to local children in grades K-3.
